Calculator to split expenses as a couple

Enter what each person earns, the shared expense and how you want to split it. You will see what each person pays.

Two ways to split

Evenly: each person pays half. Proportional: each person pays a percentage equal to their share of the combined income. With incomes of €2,000 and €1,000 and an expense of €900, an even split is €450 each; proportionally it is €600 and €300 (66.7% and 33.3%).

Which to choose

There is no right answer: it depends on what feels fair to you both. Proportional splits tend to suit very different incomes; even splits suit similar ones. What matters is agreeing in advance and writing it down.
